1. What is the International Patient Service?


The International Patient Service coordinates medical appointments, health exams, preventive checkups, hospitalizations,
emergency coordination and treatment or diagnostic second opinions free of cost.



2.  Is there a fee for using the International Patient Service?


No, coordination for medical care is free.



3.  How can I coordinate a medical appointment?

4.  How far in advance do I have to program my medical care?


All coordinated programmed medical care requires at least 5-7 business days (with the exception of emergency transfers).



5.  Can I show up at the International Patient Service without a previous programmed medical appointment?


With the aim of avoiding delays and inconvenient situations, we suggest you program your medical appointments before arriving at Clinica Alemana.  Given the high demand for our services, we recommend you make your appointments in advance.



6.  What services does the International Patient Service offer?


 

- Coordination and health programs design for preventive checkups.
 - Coordination medical appointments, diagnostic exams and/or procedures.
 - Coordination for hospitalization if needed..
- Coordination for transportation by plane, air, or other emergency transportation if necessary.
 
Other services:
- Guides to accompany patients to the different coordinated medical appointments.
- Assistance for booking hotels with preferential rates.
- Provides health care costs including Doctors fees and or clinical services, according to the diagnosis.
- Access to My Health Page where you can confidentially obtain medical exam results from any location in the world at www.alemana.cl



7.  What information must I give to coordinate a medical appointment?


To coordinate a medical appointment you must give the following information:  complete name (as it appears on your passport
or official ID), present address, date of birth, telephone number (include country and city code), e-mail address, and a
description of your medical condition along with the preferred date for the appointment.



8.  If I don’t have the name of a specific Doctor, can the International Patient Service suggest one?


Yes, the International Patient Service Nurse can offer the names of various specialized Doctors depending on the medical information you have provided.



9.  What medical documents or information should I take to Chile?


It is important to bring all the information, which is relevant to your medical condition, including medical exams, X rays, medical
history, and information on current medication.  You must also bring a detailed description of the medication you are taking, since
the names of treatment drugs vary from one country to another. If your local Doctor recommended you to seek medical
assistance from the International Patient Service at Clinica Alemana, please be sure to bring his/her contact information.



10.  Do I need my Doctor’s referral?

 

No, it is not necessary to have your Doctor’s referral in order to receive medical care at Clinica Alemana.  However, it is important to have a report of your current medical condition available.  

 
 

11.  Will I be informed about the medical costs for my treatment before I travel to Chile?


Yes, the International Patient Service can coordinate a budget estimate of the medical care that may be needed.  For that purpose, it is necessary to have a medical report and the medical attention that will be required.  These procedures require a written Physicians order specifying the procedures needed.



12.  When are the main holidays in Chile?


  




It is important to take into account that February is the peak vacation month for Doctors in Chile.  



13.  I don’t speak Spanish, how will I be able to communicate with my Doctor in Chile?


The International Patient Service has staff with bilingual Nurses that will be the initial contact point at the first stages
of your medical care coordination, until the end of your stay or medical attention. Clinica Alemana also has Doctors that speak
different languages.  At the moment of assigning a Doctor, your language preference will be considered.


  

14.  Does Clinica Alemana have International Patient Service insurance?

  

No, Clinica Alemana does not have any health insurance.

  


15.  Are international health insurances accepted?
