América Economía Ranking: Clínica Alemana recognized as Latin America’s Second Best
For the ninth year, this healthcare center was awarded this outstanding position in the region, in addition to a first place at domestic level.
Once again, Clínica Alemana was awarded a high score to position itself as the second best in the Ranking of the Best Hospitals and Clinics in Latin America, after the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo, a Brazilian institution that continues to lead the ranking, which included more than 200 entities in the region this year.
This index, prepared annually by América Economía Intelligence, has historically considered six dimensions: Safety, Human Capital, Capacity, Knowledge Management, Efficiency and Prestige. A seventh category was added this year: Patient Dignity and Experience.
The seven areas evaluated resulted in a final score known as the Quality index, where which Clínica Alemana scored higher than last year. For the medical director of this health center, Dr. Juan Hepp, the results obtained reflect the historic commitment to delivering outstanding health care. “This achievement is the result of an on-going improvement process that seeks to meet the medical needs of the patient in a comprehensive manner,” he says.
|Place||Hospital / Clinic||Country|
|1°||Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein||Brazil|
|3°||Fundación Valle de Lili||Colombia|
As in previous years, Clínica Alemana once again obtained the maximum score (100) in the Human Capital area, which considers the analysis of the medical staff, nursing staff and hospital governance. It also had an outstanding score in Efficiency (99.7), an area including variables of medical efficiency (such as bed or operating room occupancy rates), finances (balance sheets and income statements) and different quality management mechanisms.
Clínica Alemana, the only one with the best score in Human Capital and Efficiency.
In turn, in the new Dignity and Patient Experience category, the institution obtained the second highest score (90.7), after the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. This area includes indicators such as ethics committees, patient and family member involvement in them, medical responsibility protocols and patient experience departments or units.
Moreover, Clínica Alemana stood out in the other dimensions, exceeding in many cases the scores obtained last year.
Dr. Hepp values this progress and highlights the action areas involved. “This has been made possible, to a large extent, by our highly qualified and permanent staff, which has earned us the highest score in this area. This aspect is combined with the on-going optimization of our processes, the incorporation of cutting-edge equipment, the development of knowledge and our on-going dedication to offering a humane treatment to our patients, so as to provide the best service experience and contribute to the community. Therefore, these results motivate us to continue moving forwards in that direction,” he added.
